Remains of an old Hindu temple near the barracks.

Temples / Bastis

This is a Siva temple near the parade grounds in the fort. The extant portion is now only the navaranga, and originally it must have 3 garbhagrihas (Trikutachala) and an ardhamandapa. The outer walls are moulded and plain, while the doorways are fully decorated. There are indications of porches which once stood before the north and south doorways. There are four fine pillars, are of better proportions and finer detail. In the wall are elaborately framed niches for images which are now empty.  The inner doorway, leading to the antechamber is very richly sculptured. There is a splendid architrave above it, with scuptures of the three gods Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu and; Siva occupying the centre in his tandava form. Between them, are dancing figures and musicians, together with miniatures figures of devis. On the dedicatory block, there is Ganesa, on the pilasters of the door jambs, on either sides, are Brahma and Vishnu. Beyond the pilasters is a vertical narrow band of perforated scroll work.
