The Mulla Mosque

Vijayapura
Mosque

The Mulla Masjid/Mosque, also called as Malik Raihan’s Masjid, is situated within the suburb of Shapur or Khundanpur. It is a small structure. The front minarets are very graceful and well propotioned and the little minars over the central pieces enhance the general effect. The facade is decorated with trefoil merlons are that of Malikah Jahan Begam’s tomb, but the arches are a little too low to be of the best proportions. The dome is of the high stilted type, drawn in at the neck where the band of leaves encircle it. This was the tendency noticed in the later Structures.
