Ain-Ul-Mulk’s Tomb

Vijayapura
Tombs

This tomb is ascribed to Ain-Ul-Mulk Kanani, a noble under Ibrahim I (1534 – 1557 CE). His rebellion against the king resulted in his death in 1556 CE. No other details are available. This monument is constructed upon a high platform with a complementary mosque and ranks as one of the proportionate buildings of the early Adil Shahi period, with a fine dome above a pleasing cubical mass. Fine decoration in lime plaster in the form of great flat lozenge shaped pendants or censors hanging by chains upon the walls is the most notable features of this monument.
