Temples / Bastis

This temple, facing west, is assignable to the 7th century CE. It is almost square on plan and consists of a hall which is enclosed on the three sides and has a garbhagriha built against the back wall. The temple has had several additions. Originally, it was simple pillared hall. The garbhagriha, the side cell and the sikhara were added at a later dates. The pillared hall has a low roof. The central part of the ceiling is raised a little and is flat. The hall has a square raised platform in the centre. On the four corners of it are placed four pillars which are short but very heavy. The garbhagriha has an elaborately carved doorway. Upon the flat central portion of the roof have been laid a few courses of a sikhara. These coursesof the first storey have Shaivaite and Vaishnavite deities on four sides. This temple is joined to another temple by a pillared portico.
