Rameshwar temple

Temples / Bastis

This temple, facing east, is assignable is the 12th – 13th century CE. On plan it consists of a rectangular garbhagriha, an antaral and a pillared hall. The garbhagriha houses a linga on a pedestal and a small seated Nandi is in its front. The doorframe of the shrine is divided in to five shakhas. The lintel is adorned with Gajalakshmi and there are dvarapalas on either side. There are two pillars at the entrance of the antarala and its lintel has Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva at the centre. The pillared hall has thirty two pillars and eighteen pilasters. These pillars are of two types. The first type has a square base, cubical shaft, pointed circular mouldings and abevelled capital. The other variety has square base with repeated pot designs.
